Sony Pictures is home to a thriving global content business, operating 25 wholly-owned or joint-venture production companies in 12 countries, as well as linear and digital channels around the world. 

Founded in 1929 and renamed several times, Sony Music Entertainment is the 2nd largest of the “Big Three” record companies, behind Universal Music Group and ahead of Warner Music Group. Its music publishing division — Sony/ATV — is the largest music publisher in the world.

The company’s roster includes a broad array of both local artists and international superstars and manages such flagship labels as Columbia Records, RCA Records, Epic Records and Artista records, as well as distributes  a multitude of independent labels.  The music division has offices scattered throughout the world and an independent operation in Japan. 

Sony Music Entertainment  and Sony/ATV Music Publishing merged in August 2019 and became Sony Music Group.
